This has been an amazing journey through the presidential race. As I ride through the city, I see people engaged in the voting process that many people have given their lives in order for us to vote. So that is a beautiful thing. But I wonder a couple of things though.

1) I wonder if those same people encouraging you to vote -rather for McCain or Obama really mean that if you are not voting for their candidate. If I wanted my candidate to win would I really encourage you to vote if you are not voting for my person to win. So when I hear people say get out and vote I really think what they are saying is get out and vote for my candidate.

2) I get emails everyday from believers in the faith telling me to get and and vote. They will argue you down if you do not vote. They are giving you facts on what the candidate will do you and the whole nine. They will present all this information so that you will vote for their candidate. Now on tomorrow when all this hoopla is finished those same believer will not have the same intensity about evangelizing those same people with the Gospel that they presented a presidential candidate. They will not study their scripture to present Christ like we are running out of time.

So if I choose not to vote, do not question me on my right to vote because people died for me. Because I will say I know a man that died also in order that you may live but you are not broadcsting him around the city. No disrespect to the fore parents who died during the struggle but tell me which death is greater.

my 2 cents

Ecclesiastes 7:14 (English Standard Version)

14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other,so that man may not find out anything that will be after him.

I write to you today bugged out over this scripture. Solomon writes a unique statement in the Hebrew scriptures that is practical for today’s turmoil that we face. As I sat this morning I was reflecting on my personal state of mind. I was asking God is it worth it anymore to persevere to the end. Not suicidal but “extremely rocked by circumstances.” My zeal has gone out of the window but out of a broken heart passion has emerged. As I started reading the Scriptures I came across this great passage.

Solomon understood the acquiring of wealth because he had riches that man had never seen and no man will ever experience.(2 Chron. 1:12 ) But interestingly he talks about adversity. He chooses to use the word “consider” to earmark the day of adversity. He then proceeds to announce that God is in control of everything regardless of how it looks. God has placed thing within our paths in order that we may be able to see what lies ahead-good or bad.

This gives me hope that God in his sovereign nature will always work things out for his good. (Romans 8:28) I ‘m digging in and preparing for the long road and I hope that you are doing the same. At the end of the day, the faithful God we serve will be faithful. So me dear friend weary not in well doing………you know the rest.
