I have been adamantly telling my wife about this dude Jamal and how he his a heretic for over a year. We have looked at his messages and had many conversations about what dude was saying and nothing changed. She still did not see the problem with his messages.  As I presented scripture after scripture she just could not see the major problem that I had with the dude. A lot has to do with home field advantage for this guy. My wife is a proud Columbia, Maryland native. Because Bryant grew up in the same area there is this hometown connection she had for the dude.  But dude has shoot himself in the foot with this nonsense.

This is just part of the email that he sent to her this morning that made her start to question his antics. I have been sharing with her for almost a year now about dude to little or no avail. (We were even in Maryland, a few weeks ago and she asked me to to the Empowerment Temple.) But today the light went off and dude made himself look bad. As my always father says,” You give a person enough rope they will hang themselves.”

2.  Now, Jamal Harrison Bryant.

C. Michael Patton writes in his blog the Parchment and Pen about the socialistic views of Obama. Now, I am no big fan of Obama or his stance on a few issues (homosexuality and abortion) but the socialist though has never been the problem. I often times find it hard to grasped why believers would have a hard time with this concept as well.

Patton does in his writing spell out some great concerns that should not be taken lightly. He states that by placing America under a socialist umbrella would cause the “labor force” to lose motivation because of we are motivated by success. He states,

“But when wealth is redistributed the old idea that “hard work pays” will no longer be true. The entrepreneur mentality that has made America great will be drowned as people recognize that, if successful, they will be giving a major portion of their success to the government. Very few people will succeed in this type of socialism because they will have no motive to do so.”

I am not sure if Patton is truly advocating a concern for the failure that may ensue because of Obama’s socialist appeal or that people will have to change from their greedy nature, to one that will force you to help the less fortunate. As most of us, sit in our plush neighborhood and struggle, others sit in their impoverished neighborhoods and struggle. Though both groups struggle their is a difference in the intensity of the struggle. We struggle with getting the money to pay for hospital bills while the poor could care less about the bill. They just want medical help for their sick love ones.

Unless, I just have a bad understanding of the socialist view, I can’t see why so many believers are against helping the poor. I would assert that Jesus, Paul, and the rest of the apostle had a socialist view. There intent was to relieve the poor of the pressure that stifled their core growth of worshipping God. Patton insist that implementing a socialist view of government brings “less productivity ” that will “create an economic collapse, relatively speaking.”

He continues to describe that the socialist view will ultimately bring about a laziness that will cause the labor force to become lazy. He writes,

Motivation must be kept in tact if we are to prosper as a nation. There is no way around it. The work force must have a reason to use their gifts in a way that provides hope for success. The government is not our economic savior. . . the solution is and continues to be a motivated work-force.

Though I respect Patton and the Parchment and the Pen as one of the more insightful blogs, I must differ with his outlook on this topic. I agree that the government is not our economic savior but I will also point out that neither is a “motivated work-force.” Our successful rises and falls on the back of the sovereign will of God. When we can approach our economy with the integrity of the scriptures we will see change. When we can approach our everyday lives through the perspective of cross shaped lens then we will see change. We live in a society where God must fit into our box instead of us fitting into his box. When we decide to follow the precedent that he has laid out for us, then the very things that seem impossible in society as a whole will start to fall in line with the guidance of God. But first we as the body of Christ must be able to resemble what we are trying to assemble.

Here in lies the tension that has caused me to have to defend my stance on Obama. When given the opportunity to be blatant about his faith Obama did not choose the road less traveled he choose to go with “what will win.” During our fellowship, yesterday I was challenged with answering the same questions about Obama. He has to say what is right to win the presidency? He probably does not believe that way in private. That is smart and using wisdom that he does not come before people and stand against homosexuality or abortion. In refutation by response is what does the bible say,

Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. (Mark 8:38)

You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. (NKJ, Leviticus 18:22)

If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them. (NKJ, Leviticus 20:13)

9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.                        (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, New American Standard Bible)

Dr. Baucham ,makes a declarative statement the would have spoken volumes for Obama if he would have taken a the same stance, He stated,”We are about the Gospel. The culture doesn’t dictate truth, the Gospel dictates truth. My job is not to be a political pundit or a political activist ,my job is to be a pastor, and proclaim the truth of the Gospel as clearly as I can.”  In all fairness to Obama, he is not a pastor but his conviction as a believer should be just the same as Dr. Baucham.

At the end of  the day Obama has chosen to sell his faith short for the candidacy of the president of United States. The sad thing about this whole encounter is that when believer make a strong stance such as Dr. Voddie, we are ostracized if we did something so wrong. I have been called dumb, stupid, and a fell other words but I have yet to hear someone say, “Praise God for you stance.”(other than those who are doing the same )

It’s a sad day, when the believer is criticized by other believers for taking a stand for the very same God that they proclaim.

Prayer and Help for my Mom

I have read many discussions since I started blogging about 3 months ago. But the blog above is not one to chop up or debate about. It is a son’s plea for help from others in the faith. Read the blog above as he explains the need they have right now.
